All health centres closed today, due to adverse weather conditions

All health centres across the island are closed today.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness said this is due to the passage of Tropical Storm Rafael.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacqueline Bisasor-McKenzie said all primary care services are suspended and patients with appointments should contact their health centre later this week to reschedule appointments.

She noted however, that all public hospitals remain open.

In the meantime, Dr. Bisasor McKenzie said persons with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and asthma should have an adequate supply of medication.

She also urged pregnant women who are within one month of their delivery date to relocate to family or friends who are near a hospital or delivery center.
