Jeanne Barnes, the mother of the Jamaican born former England and Liverpool football star John Barnes has died.

A lawyer by profession, she headed the Kingston legal aid clinic and served as the first legal counsel for the general legal council.

In a statement the Jamaican Bar Association said, “Mrs Barnes was regarded as one of the most humble and inspiring women of our profession” .

Mrs Barnes who took pride in her profession as a lawyer, was the widow of the late Colonel Ken Barnes, who served in the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) for over 30 years.
