Approximately 243, 000 Jamaicans were approved for the government’s reverse income tax credit up to yesterday.
Minister of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke gave the update while addressing parliament on a motion for the approval of the first supplementary estimates for the current fiscal year.
Dr. Clarke noted the swift and smooth application process implemented to ensure the ease of access to the programme.
Under the reverse income tax regime, persons earning below $3 m annually, who meet the requisite criteria, will receive a one-off $20,000 payment.
