A call is being made for the Government to allocate funding for a Climate Research Agenda.
The appeal was made by Climate Scientist at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Professor Michael Taylor during today’s sitting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee.
Professor Taylor was delivering a presentation on climate change and the implications for Jamaica.
He explained that if climate is of significant importance to the nation, there must be a research agenda which should, among several objectives, prioritize data collection to guide the country’s actions.
Professor Taylor noted that the Climate Research Agenda should also prioritize innovation, new technology and an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
