Matthew Samuda of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has won the North East St. Ann seat.

This after the Electoral Office of Jamaica finished the preliminary count of all 146 boxes in the by election for the constituency.

Samuda polled 4,838 votes, that’s 95 % of the ballots cast.

Defeated challenger, independent candidate David Anderson got 222 votes, that’s 4 % of the ballots cast.

While the other defeated challenger, Chase Neil of the United Independents Congress, got 30 votes, which is 1 % of the ballots cast.

The EOJ indicated that todays estimated voter turnout is 11.6 %.

The voters list has 43,827 electors.

The returning officer will commence the final counting of the ballots tomorrow at the designated counting centre.
