Flights to Jamaica have been disrupted due to the global information technology outage impacting aviation, banks, and health facilities.
Cyber security firm CrowdStrike said a “defect” in one of its software updates hit windows operating systems.
In a statement the firm assured that the outage was not the result of a security incident or cyber-attack and that the issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.
Meanwhile, speaking to IRIE FM News this morning, Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright noted that some flights into the island were delayed.
He said at least one airline has updated its system and expects that the situation will stabilize later today.
