Nickisha Pryce sets new national record at London Diamond League meet

National champion Nickisha Pryce broke the Jamaican record again while producing a world leading time as she stormed to victory in the women’s 400 metres at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in London on Saturday.

Pryce led from gun to tape to smash her personal best, winning in a time of 48.57 seconds to erase her own mark of 48.89 seconds set at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June. She moves up to 7th place on the all-time list.

Her time which was also a meeting record saw her finishing ahead of Natalia Kaczmarek who was second in a Polish national record 48.90s and Lieke Klaver of the Netherlands who was third in a personal best 49.58s.

In the men’s the men’s 400m hurdles Roshawn Clarke was second in 47.63 seconds behind world champion Alison Dos Santos of Brazil who won in 47.18s.

Rushell Clayton was a third place finisher in the women’s 400m hurdles in 53.24 seconds with Andrenette Knight fourth in 53.69 and Shian Salmon seventh in 54.50.

The event won by Femke Bol in a meet record 51.30 seconds.

In the men’s 100m world champion Noah Lyles was first in new personal best 9.81 seconds with Akani Simbine (9.86s) second and Letsile Tebogo third in a Botswana national record 9.88 seconds.

Ackeem Blake was fifth in 9.97 seconds and Yohan Blake eight in 10.23s.
