Public Relations Officer for the Portland Environmental Action Wilbourn Carr says come June 1 when the Blue Lagoon is reopened, he will be demanding the resumption of commercial activities at the attraction.
The attraction has been closed since August last year and following protests about the prolonged closure the Portland Municipal Corporation has announced that it will be re-opened on June 1.
Speaking on Irie FM’s Africa Forum with host Ka’Bu Maat Kheru this morning, Mr. Carr noted that the June 1 opening will only be in a phased format, allowing for activities such as swimming.
However, he noted that commercial activities are not included in the first phase and as such he will be lobbying for this to be allowed in short order.
Mr. Carr said he is optimistic that his demands will be met.
