Taxi operators express hope that Transport Minister will lobby for expected toll rate hike to be put on hold in Cabinet meeting today

The Transport Operator Development Sustainable Service (TODSS) is hoping that when Cabinet meets today (July 4) the Transport Minister can lobby for the expected toll rate hike to be put on hold.

Toll rates are set to increase effective this Saturday, July 9, impacting motorists who use Highway 2000 in Portmore, Spanish Town, Vineyards and May Pen.

Motorists, particularly taxi operators, have lamented that they cannot afford the increase at this time.

TODSS President Egeton Newman said the taxi grouping will be gathering at the entrance to the Mandela Highway at 9 AM, in a bid to get the Government’s attention to their plight.
