Two men are dead and a policeman is hospitalized in serious but stable condition, following a targeted operation in West Prospect, Linstead, St. Catherine, this morning.

Dead are Peter Davis otherwise called ‘Devil Man’ and  27-year-old Tavani Benjamin.

Police say Benjamin was a person of interest in relation to a murder, while Davis was among St Catherine’s top three Most Wanted and was named on the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesdays feature.

Reports are that at about 5am, lawmen were carrying out an operation in search of wanted men, when gunmen opened fire hitting 2 police officers.

The police team returned fire and two alleged gunmen were hit.

All four wounded people were taken to hospital, where the two alleged gunmen were pronounced dead and the police officers treated- one was released while the other was admitted.

Two firearms were also seized following the incident.

The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM is probing the matter.
