2 former ministers among 18 sworn in as Members of Cabinet

Two former ministers are among the 18 sworn in as members of the Cabinet this afternoon.

The 2 returnees, who served in past administrations, are Dr. Andrew Wheatley and Robert Montague.

Among those who retain their portfolios from the previous administration, are Fayval Williams, Ed Bartlett, Dr. Christopher Tufton and Daryl Vaz.

The Office of the Prime Minister outlined the 19 Cabinet ministers.

The new Cabinet is headed by Dr. Andrew Holness, who retains his other 2 portfolios, with a slight focus change; Minister of Defence and Minister of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development; this was previously the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

Dr. Horace Chang, retains his position as Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of National Security, with a new focus area added: peace.

Fayval Williams, retains the Finance and Public Service portfolio.

Edmund Bartlett is still the Minister of Tourism.

Dr. Christopher Tufton retains the Health and Wellness portfolio.

Delroy Chuck retains the Justice portfolio, and has been given added responsibility for Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

The others are :

Olivia Grange Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.

Desmond Mckenzie – Minister of Local Government and Rural Development

Pearnel Charles Junior – Labour and Social Security.

Daryl Vaz -Transport, Telecommunications and Energy .

Floyd Green – Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining.

Turning to some slight variation in the Cabinet, Matthew Samuda retains responsibility for Water, Environment and Climate Change, but this time as its own Ministry; these were previously part of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

There are 4 ministers without portfolio;

Robert Morgan retains responsibility for Works in the renamed Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development.

Cabinet returnee, Robert Montague, has been given responsibility for Land Titling and Settlements in the renamed Ministry of Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development. Montague last served as Transport Minister in the 2016 administration.

Cabinet returnee, Dr. Andrew Wheatley now has responsibility for Science, Technology and Special Projects in the Office of the Prime Minister. He previously served as Minister of Science Technology and Mining in the 2016 administration.

Audrey Marks, retains responsibility for Efficiency, Innovation and Digital Transformation, in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Meantime, there are 3 senators in the cabinet.

Kamina Johnson Smith retains her portfolio as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Dr. Dana Morris Dixon is still the Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information.

And, Aubyn Hill retains the Industry, Investment and Commerce portfolio.
