17 murders recorded in the country last week

17 murders were recorded in the country last week.

Up to Saturday June 21, there were 322 murders.

As at Saturday, June 28, the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported a total of 339 murders, an increase of 17 from the previous week.

This is a reduction of 245 when compared to the same period last year.

The St. Andrew South Division had the highest number of murders with 44, followed by St. Catherine South with 32.

Trelawny, Portland and St. Elizabeth had the least with 7.

The JCF is also reporting that cases of rape declined by 60.

Meanwhile, robberies went up by 23 and break-ins by 103.
