A 16-year-old girl was charged for allegedly stabbing her 12-year-old relative in Carey Park, Trelawny last month.

Reports from the Falmouth police are that on February 14, both girls were at home when the accused used a ratchet knife to stab the complainant in the back.

The wounded girl fell and the alleged attacker reportedly continued to stab her to the upper body, before fleeing the scene.

The police were alerted and the wounded girl was taken to hospital where she has been admitted.

The accused girl later turned herself in at the Duncans police station.

She was subsequently charged with wounding with intent.

A court date is being finalized.
