16 National female Volleyballers now in China for a two month training stint  

A delegation of 16 Women’s Volleyball athletes and 3 support staff are now on a 2 month training stint in China. 

This as Women’s Volleyball was among the disciplines selected to participate in a three year technical cooperation project on sport between the Governments of Jamaica and China. 

The project began in 2018 and was due for completion in 2020 but was not completed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Of the athletes that took part in the programme in 2018 and 2019, six would go on to be a part of the Senior Women’s Volleyball team that created history by winning Jamaica’s first ever senior volleyball title at the 2023 Cazova Women’s Championship in Suriname. 

Members of the volleyball delegation to china are: Ramona Halstead, Jaysira Johnon and Jodian Myers of Moneague College, Zoya Callame, T’Amoy Stewart, Bridgette Lee and Aaliyah Mcleod of Knox College, Sherefa Morris and Jody Williams of Iona high along with Kalaysia Blake of Campion College and Danielle Watson of Utech.

aAso making the trip are: Tahira Barrett of Mannings high,Sherayn Brown of Immaculate High,  Malia Lynch and Marcellin  of Wolmers Girls,  Alannah Daley of St. Andrew high and Gabrielle Thompson of G.C. Foster College.

The support staff includes coach  Yolanda Miller,  Keshan Livingston and Valencia Cowan the team Manager.
