15 uncapped players named in Jamaica’s 28-man squad for upcoming friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago

A fresh wave of talent has been called up as 15 uncapped players have earned spots in the 28-man local-based Reggae Boyz squad preparing for the upcoming friendly internationals against Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago next month.

The squad, which will face off in two fixtures, includes a strong presence from the defending Jamaica Premier League (JPL) champions Cavalier and leaders Mount Pleasant, who collectively contribute 15 players to the roster.

From Cavalier, the selected players are Richard King, Jevanni Laing, Christopher Ainsworth, Dwayne Atkinson, Shamar Watson, and Jalmaro Calvin. Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant’s contribution comes from Shaquan Davis, Gadail Irvine, Kyle Ming, Fitzroy Cummins, Sue-Lae McCalla, Jahshaun Anglin, Daniel Green, Kimoni Bailey, and Raheem Edwards.

In addition to these players, the squad features overseas-based Maliek Howell (Las Vegas Lights) Joshua Grant (New York Red Bulls) and Jahmali Waite (El Paso Locomotiv) and a number of players from other local clubs in Benjamin Williams, Stephen Young and Romeo Guthrie (Portmore United), Robinho Gordon (Vere United), Demario Phillips and Shaniel Thomas (Montego Bay United), Nathaniel Howe (Chapelton Maroons), Warner Brown and Kimani Arbourne (Arnett Gardens) and Ranaldo Biggs of Racing United round out the full roster.

Notably absent from the squad is Tyreek McGee, who is currently out of contract. Coach Steve McLaren confirmed that McGee is unavailable for selection at this time.

The squad is set to compete in two friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago. The first match will take place on February 6 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall, with the second game scheduled for February 9 at the Anthony Spalding Sports Complex in Kingston.
