Ackalia Dunkley, the 14-year-old burn victim whose family was seeking help to have her transported to the United States for treatment, is now in that country.

Ackalia who sustained third degree burns after a gas stove exploded at her home in St. Elizabeth will be treated at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Black River High student’s trip was made possible through the efforts of the Sanmerna Foundation which has helped other burn victims in the past, as well as other donors.

Director of the foundation, Robert White has thanked persons who assisted the teen.
