12 people fatally shot by the security forces since the start of the year

Twelve persons have died in alleged confrontations involving the security forces since the start of the year.

According to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) the latest incident occurred in Clarendon yesterday.

The details surrounding the incident have not been released, however INDECOM said a man was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police.

That incident followed another in Manchester hours earlier, in which three people were fatally shot.

Their names have not been released.

There have been other fatal shooting incidents involving the police since January.

On New Year’s Day, 6 people died in alleged confrontations with lawmen.

The first incident took place in Granville St. James in which three persons died, including a four-year-old child.

Hours later three other persons died in an alleged confrontation with lawmen in Westmoreland.

Yesterday the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship (LCF) expressed grave concern and deep moral distress at reports of fatal shootings by members of the security forces at the start of the new year.
