117 people were murdered in the first two months of the year.

That’s according to data from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF.

According to the JCF this is 63 fewer than the 180 recorded in the similar period last year.

The St. Andrew South Division had the highest number of murders, with 19, followed by St. Catherine South, with 14, and St. Ann and St. Catherine north with 9 murders each.

The JCF is also reporting that cases of rape declined by 62 and robberies by 18.

Meanwhile, break-ins increased by 8.
