11 teams including the Jamaica Defense force and the Chinese Embassy are down to compete in the first Dragon Boat Festival in Jamaica set for the Kingston Harbour this weekend. 

The two days competition which was official launched this morning at the Chinese Benevolent Association on Hope Road in Kingston, will see Mckay Security, University of the West Indies – Mona Campus, China Harbour Engineering Company -CHECH, along with General Foods Supermarket, and Chinese Benevolent Association among the teams who will be in action.  

The event to be staged near Morgan’s Harbour in the Palisadoes Beach, will begin on Saturday with the heats, and before culminating with the final on Sunday.

Dalton Yap-President Jamaica Dragon Boat Federation who spoke with Irie Fm sports, is already upbeat at the prospect of the sport making its splash in Jamaica.
