US Embassy announces raft of changes to items allowed inside the facility, including cellular phones

The United States Embassy has announced a raft of changes to items allowed inside the facility, including cellular phones.
This follows an advisory issued on September 1.
According to the Embassy, persons conducting business are now allowed to have cellular phones, ear buds and smart watches.
It stressed that persons will have to abide by rules governing the use of these devices.
The Embassy also noted that individuals will have to declare necessary medical devices and non-liquid medication or pills before security screening.
Persons will also be allowed to carry small quantities of baby formula, baby food, milk, small quantities of diapers, money to include bills and coins, belts, watches, keys, baby carriers and baby strollers, that can be folded small enough to pass through an x-ray machine.
In the meantime, items that are not allowed inside, include computers and intelligent eye wear.
Media devices, such as compact discs (CD’s), thumb drives, memory cards, flash drives / USB’s, head phones, and speakers, are banned.
Cameras or video equipment, flashlights, lighters and matches, weapons, knives and other sharp objects, large purses and bags, alcoholic beverages of any kind, liquids, gels, aerosols, oils, lotions, or powder are also banned.
