“Franno will forever be in my heart’ – Shericka Jackson

Multiple World Championship and Olympic medalist Shericka Jackson has been speaking about the passing of her coach Stephen Francis.

Under Francis’s guidance Jackson became the second fastest woman ever over 200 meters with 21.41 seconds while winning four World Championships gold medals and one Olympic gold medal.

She also won four silver medals and three bronze medals at the World Championships and one silver and three oOympic bronze medals

Jackson was speaking ahead of the Lausanne Diamond League meet on Friday August 21

Francis dedicated his life to the development of athletics in Jamaica,

Francis – the MVP Track & Field Club’s Co-founder and Technical Director – was known as a master for identifying talent.

As well as 13-time global gold medallist Fraser-Pryce, two-time world 200m champion Jackson and former 100m world record-holder Powell, the MVP Track & Field Club has coached numerous other global medallists such as Elaine Thompson-Herah, Michael Frater, Sherone Simpson, Kishane Thompson and Tina and Tia Clayton.

Francis was awarded the Order of Jamaica in 2017 in recognition of his work.
