October has emerged as the third deadliest month on Jamaica’s roads so far this year, with fatalities continuing to climb.

Vice-Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones, says 35 people have been killed in road crashes this month, with at least 13 of those deaths occurring since last Saturday.

Dr. Jones says five of the fatalities are linked to crashes in Ocho Rios, St. Ann and along Lilliput Main Road in St. James, this morning.

He is calling for an urgent meeting with Council Chairman, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness, to discuss measures to address the crisis.
