Ojay Shields named in Cricket West Indies squad to face Pakistan in 4 day warm up
Ojay Shields is the only Jamaican named in Cricket West Indies squad to face Pakistan in a four-day warm-up match at the Queen’s Park oval in Trinidad from July 18 to 21.
The medium pacer – shields, who made his test debut last December against New Zealand joins the experienced left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican who has been appointed captain of the side.
The Caribbean line up features a blend of established first-class performers and emerging talent and the squad has been selected primarily from the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, who recently captured the West Indies Championship title.
The full squad reads :Jomel Warrican (captain), along with Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Cephas Cooper, Joshua Da Silva, Jyd Goolie, Terrance Hinds, Kavem Hodge, Joshua James, Mbeki Joseph
Anderson Phillip, Ojay Shields, Nial Smith and Ryan Bandoo.
Former West Indies all-rounder Rayad Emrit will serve as head coach for the select squad.
Meanwhile, the warm-up fixture is expected to provide Pakistan with valuable match preparation ahead of their upcoming two match test series, while also giving West Indies selectors an opportunity to assess players against a strong international opposition.
The match will be played at the historic Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad from July 18 to July 21.
