Reigning World 100-metre champion Oblique Seville and Budapest World Championships 200-metre gold medallist Shericka Jackson are the 2026 National 100-metre champions.

Their victories came as the curtain fell on day two of the JAAA/PUMA National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium on Friday night.

Jackson stormed to victory in the women’s 100 metres in 10.81 seconds, finishing ahead of Tokyo World Championships silver medallist Tina Clayton, who clocked 10.85 seconds. Johneile Smith completed an MVP Track Club sweep of the podium, taking third in 10.94 seconds.

Sprint double-double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, who ran 11.08 seconds in the previous round, did not return for the final.

Levanya Williams, enjoying a breakthrough season, finished sixth in 11.13 seconds.

In the men’s final, Seville, who topped the semi-finals with a time of 9.95 seconds, returned to capture the national title in a swift 9.82 seconds. He held off World Under-20 relay gold medallist Gary Card, who finished second in 9.93 seconds, while 2024 Diamond League champion Ackeem Blake was third in 9.94 seconds.

Earlier, Ashanie Smith of Dynamic Speed won the men’s international 100 metres in 10.30 seconds, ahead of Jhordane Morgan in 10.35 seconds, with Jace Witter taking third in 10.36 seconds.

Meanwhile, schoolgirl Shanoya Douglas warmed up for the World Junior Games by winning the girls’ Under-20 100 metres in 11.08 seconds.
