Former Mount Pleasant striker Trevante Stewart will not suit up for Jamaica’s Reggae Boys this afternoon against World Cup bound South Africa in their friendly international in Pachuca Mexico.
The 25 year old Stewart who plays for Israeli Premier League Club Maccabi Haifa failed to turn up in Mexico with the Reggae Boys squad.
Reports reaching Irie Fm Sports are that stewart who last played for the national team three years ago told the team management that he was ill on the travel day and was unable to make the trip.
The Reggae Boys will take on South Africa in a behind close door encounter at 3 pm this afternoon.
South Africa is using the game as their final preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
They will take on co-host Mexico in the opening game of the World Cup on June 11.
