City of Lauderhill World Cup kickoff to feature Under 20 Reggae Boyz – June 6 & 7

Jamaica’s National Under 20 Reggae Boyz will be engaged in a pair of games in Fort Lauderdale on the weekend of June 6 and 7.

This in preparation for the Concacaf Under 20 Championships in Mexico in July and August.

The event is part of the Caribbean Americas Soccer Association (CASA) finals and City of Lauderhill World Cup Kickoff which involves family and youth activities plus and entertainment package.

The Young Boyz will first engage Haiti’s national Under 20 team on Saturday June 6 in the final game of a triple header at the Lauderhill Sports Complex.

Then on Sunday June 7 at the Broward Regional Park, the Young Boyz will once again be in action against Miami United which will be the featured game of another triple header.

Vice Mayor of the City of Lauderhill Richard Campbell says this is their contribution in helping the Young Boyz preparations.

Campbell added that they will make sure the flags of both Jamaica and Haiti will be flown high.

Meantime, Jamaica’s Young Reggae Boyz are drawn in Group C of the Concacaf Under 20 Championships to be held in Mexico between July 24 and August 9.

Jamaica has been drawn alongside Honduras, Panama and Canada.

At the conclusion of the Group Stage, the two top teams from each group and the two best third-place finishers will advance to the quarter finals set for August 4-5.

This will be followed by the Semifinals on August 7, and the Final on August 9.

The tournament – part of Concacaf’s revamped Youth National Team competitions calendar – will also serve as the qualifying competition for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2027 and the 2028 Summer Olympics Men’s Football Tournament.

The four teams that reach the semifinals of the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship will qualify for next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, while the tournament winner will also qualify for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Should the United States—already qualified as host of the Olympics—win the regional competition, the Olympic berth will be awarded to the runner-up.
