Jamaica added a bronze medal to the tally this morning on Day 2 of the 2026 World Indoor Championships in Poland to take the overall medal achievement to three – two silver and one bronze to sit in 5th place on the overall table.

Raymond Richards secured his second consecutive World Indoors bronze medal when he claimed third place in the men’s high jump with a season best 2.26 metres.

This while Romaine Beckford finished out of the runnings at 2.22 metres.

This follows Fridays opening day where Kishane Thompson won silver in the mens 60 metres and Jordan Scott secured the silver medal in the men’s triple jump

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s mixed relay team of Delano Kennedy, Shana Kaye Anderson, Kimar Farquharson and Leah anderson was disqualified in the medal event in the morning session.

In the meantime, Demario Prince and Jerome Campbell made progress in the men’s 60 metre hurdles.

Prince clocked 7.58 seconds to win his heat while Campbell posted 7.67 for 3rd in his event.

Brianna Lyston and Joneille Smith also advanced in the women’s 60 metres – Lyston with the fastest time of 7.06 seconds on her way to victory in heat 6 after smith clocked the 7th fastest time of 7.13 seconds in heat 3.

Defending champion Julien alfred has the second fastest time going into the semi-final 7.08 seconds.

Natoya Goule-Toppin missed out on a place in the medal round of the women’s 800 metres – she posted 2-minutes.00.69 seconds to finish 4th in her semi-final.

National record holder Navasky Anderson clocked 1-minute-46.65 seconds for 3rd in his semi-final in the men’s event but also was not good enough to make the final.

Meanwhile, Jamaica will be going for more medals this afternoon, when Shantae Foreman contest the women’s triple jump final at 1.38pm.

Jerome Campbell and Demario Prince are in the men’s 60 metre hurdles semi-finals at 1.48pm, with the final set for 3.02pm.

Brianna Lyston and Joneille Smith will compete in the women’s 60 metres semi-finals at at 2.14pm with the final coming up at 3.20pm.
