The 1999 Jamaica College 4×800 meters championship relay team and former Dinthill high outstanding long jumper Elva Goulbourne, will be among the honorees for the Penn Relay’s Wall Of Fame Class for 2026.

The JC team delivered one of the fastest high school 4×800 meters relays in Penn relays history.

The team of Jeffrey Wallace, Dwayne Medley, Kenrick Ferrit and Mashel Jackson, ran 7 minutes 37.71 seconds, then the second fastest time ever at the meet, and more than two decades later, the performance is still remembered as one of the great middle distance relays.

The 1999 team’s historic performance, remains a high point for the institution, and stands out for its role in securing a landmark win; setting a standard for subsequent teams to follow at the Penn Relays.

Meanwhile Goulbourne, a two time Commonwealth Games silver medalist, made her mark at the 1999 Penn Relays as well, when she broke Carol Lewis 1981 girls high school long jump record by seven centimeters with a leap of 6.40 meters.

Competing for the University of Auburn, she set the collegiate women’s meet record of 6.55 meters and won back to back long jump titles in 2002 and 2003.

The 130th staging of the Penn Relays meanwhile will be held between April 23 and 26 at the Franklin Field Stadium in Philadelphia.
