Blaise Bicknell to compete in San Diego ATP challenger 100 Tournament
Jamaica’s top-ranked tennis player, Blaise Bicknell, left the island this morning en-route to California, where he will compete in the San Diego ATP Challenger 100 Tournament at the Barnes Centre starting next Tuesday.
The 24 year old, who is currently ranked 491 in the world, will compete in the qualifiers on Monday.
The tournament which showcases top-tier men’s talent will be used a preparation for Bicknell, who should lead Jamaica’s charge against South American team Uruguay in next Month’s Davis Cup group two play-off tie in Kingston.
Bicknell will look to build on his recent men’s singles title success at the Real Equity Open Tennis Championships last December in Kingston, where he stopped Randy Phillips 6-3, 7-5 in the final.
