Leon Bailey is on his way back to Aston Villa
Reggae Boy Leon Bailey is on his way back to English Premier League side Aston Villa who have made the drastic decision to recall the winger from his loan spell with Italian Giants Roma.
Its understood that he is even expected to be included in Villa’s matchday squad for Sunday’s trip to face Newcastle United.
Bailey joined Roma on a season-long loan deal in the summer and the serie a side had been paying his salary in full.
They also had an option to buy the Jamaica International but his stay in the Italian capital has been beset by injuries.
The 28-year-old has made just 11 appearances in all competitions and now a decision has been taken for him to return to Villa Park.
Villa will make the trip to st james’ park in third place in the premier league on 43 points, 10 clear of newcastle in eighth place, and seven behind leaders Arsenal – they are also in the midst of a midfield injury crisis.
Bailey who has 24 goals from 144 games with aston villa signed a new contract in 2024 that runs until 2027
Bailey meantime is also included in the Reggae Boyz’s provisional squad for the FIFA World Cup Inter Continental Playoffs in March in Mexico.
He has scored seven goals for Jamaica from 39 games,
