Multifaceted entertainer Richie Stephens has followed through on his expressed wish to help ailing music stalwart Lieutenant Stitchie.

Yesterday, December 5, amid celebrating his 58th birthday, Stephens donated proceeds from a benefit concert held in Chicago in support of medical expenses for the ailing DJ.

The monetary donation was presented with a cheque valued at $5000 to Stitchie’s wife, Sophia Laing at the handing over ceremony held in Kingston.

In October, Stephens announced plans to host a benefit show in support of his colleague, Lieutenant Stitchie.

Dubbed Richie for Stitchie, the concert held on Black Friday in Chicago featured Richie Stephens alongside Stone Love Sound.

In an IRIE FM interview, Stephens said Stitchie was his friend and supporting him was the right thing to do.

Stephens joins fellow entertainers Bounty Killer and Shaggy who teamed up through the Bounty Foundation in October to donate ten thousand USD towards Stitchie’s medical expenses.

The Sterling Gospel Music Awards and members of the Jamaica Gospel Music Industry also donated a combined total of $750,000 JMD in aid of Stitchie’s health care in October.

A GoFundMe campaign launched in September to raise funds for Lieutenant Stitchie, up to news time, had raised $23,935 out of a 100,000 USD target.
