Recording artistes, Yaksta and Westmoreland born Reggae singer Sevana, are among the entertainers slated to perform at Tosh Fest later this month, at Natty’s Ocean View Entertainment Centre in Whitehouse.
The Peter Tosh Foundation, organizers of the event, made the revelation via their social media pages noting that Yaksta and Sevana will join Tosh’s son, Andrew Tosh and Reggae singer Ras-I on stage.
Tosh Fest will culminate a series of events during October in commemoration of what would have been the Reggae Icon’s 80th birthday. The organizers have shared that the initiative is aimed at addressing disparities in Tosh’s hometown of Belmont, Bluefields- Westmoreland, noting that net proceeds from the event will provide essential resources and sustainable support to uplift the socio-economic status of underserved communities in the icon’s birth parish.
Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh was one of the core members of the Wailers Band and a successful solo artiste.
He was a relentless advocate for justice, equality, and the decriminalization of Cannabis. The Reggae Legend was murdered on September 11, 1987, during a home invasion in Kingston. He was only 42 years old.
