Music News understands that a warrant issued for the arrest of international dancehall star Mavado has been cancelled, and law enforcement no longer has an interest in the artiste.
The warrant was vacated following a meeting between the entertainer and the St. Andrew North Police earlier today.
Mavado’s attorney, Hugh Wildman, who was present at the meeting, says his client is pleased with the development.
Earlier this year, police reported that Mavado was wanted for assault occasioning actual bodily harm stemming from an incident in 2018. However, the complainant is reportedly no longer interested in pursuing the matter.
The artiste returned to Jamaica last night for the first time in nearly a decade. Shortly after his arrival, images surfaced on social media showing Mavado in a high-level meeting with Government Ministers Senator Abka Fitz-Henley and Delano Seiveright.
It’s understood that the Ministers welcomed Mavado back home and encouraged him to avoid conflict. Seiveright serves as Member of Parliament for North Central St. Andrew, which includes Mavado’s hometown of Cassava Piece.
