Four alleged gunmen were detained following a shootout which left an officer wounded in Spalding, Clarendon today.
It’s reported that 4 firearms including an AK 47 rifle were also seized in the incident.
IRIE FM News understands that two of the gunmen were also shot and wounded in the stand off.
They are now hospitalized under police guard.
Head of the Area 3 Police, Assistant Commissioner Calvin Allen says the incident began unfolding at around 1:30 P.M., when officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a supermarket in Spalding.
The lawmen were reportedly fired upon by gunmen and a shootout ensued.
ACP Allen says the gunmen then barricaded themselves inside the supermarket.
The Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Fire Brigade were called in to assist the police with removing the suspects.
The suspects were arrested shortly before 5:00 P.M.
