Kingston College are the 2024 ISSA Manning Cup Champions.
They won their first title since 2021 after easing to a 3-1 win in Friday’s final against St. Catherine High at the National Stadium, a result that saw taking the mantle as the best schoolboy football team in the corporate area.
Kingston College got the opening goal through Jaeshawn Edwards in the 36th minute and went into the halftime break 2-0 in front courtesy of Demario Dailey who scored after 45+1 minutes.
The lead further ballooned with Deshawn Byfield making it 3-0 in the 54th minute before he inadvertently headed into his own net, while attempting to defend a corner, for St. Catherine’s lone goal in the 62nd minute.
Victory gives Kingston College their first title under head coach Vassell Reynolds and 17th Manning Cup success overall to celebrate their centennial anniversary.
They now advance to the Olivier Shield final where they will face the DaCosta Cup winner to decide the all-island champion.
Mona High, meanwhile, claimed the second title on offer in the corporate area, the ISSA Walker Cup KO after coming from behind to register a 4-1 win over Excelsior High.
Kshane Gordon (52, 76) scored twice to steal the plaudits with support coming from Carlton Brown (34) and Marlon Cunningham (55) after Damarley Williams (12) shot Excelsior into the lead.
The result saw Mona High claiming their second title in as many years, having previously won the Manning Cup in 2023.
