Taxi operators in South West Clarendon withdraw service over poor roads
Some taxi operators in South West Clarendon withdrew their service on Monday morning as they protested poor road conditions.
The taxi operators who ply the York Town, Milk River, Gravel Hill and Comfort taxi routes staged road blocks from 6 o clock on Monday morning, calling for the authorities to remedy the situation.
One taxi operator told Irie Fm news that the roadway has been damaging the vehicles of the taxi operators.
He said the road has been made even worse with the heavy rain that has been lashing the island since last week.
Another taxi operator called on the government to look out for the taxi operators, who he says are integral to the country.
The operators say the protest will continue until they receive word from the member of parliament Lothan Cousins.
