Sizzla Kalonji has shared a series of cryptic Instagram posts that suggest tension within the Maroon community.
In one post, Sizzla declared, “You are no Paramount Chief for no Maroons in Jamaica unless we the windward/leeward Rastafari Hebrew Israelite Maroon nation crowned you, and we didn’t crown no Paramount Chief over the people of Jamaica.”
He doubled down in the caption, adding, “We have our own ways of knowing the real from the fake, praise Jah. Time will tell of your ego and deceit. An old African proverb: If you can’t take the sun, you can’t be a chief. We are watching you.”
While speculation grows that Sizzla’s words may be specifically directed at a certain chief, the posts highlight signs of division within the Maroon communities.
Last year, Queen Ifrica called for unity among the Maroons, urging the communities to come together in solidarity.
