There is still no clear timeline for when the three hundred permanent posts will be created for specialist nurses, even as the health care professionals continue to leave the Island, for better paying jobs overseas.
President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, NAJ Janet Coore Farr says the process to create the posts has been on-going, while the brain drain continues steadily.
She was however, unable to provide a figure on the number of specialist nurses who have migrated to first world countries, so far this year.
In May, the government announced that three hundred posts would be created, as an immediate response to the crisis being faced with mass migration of specialist nurses.
Mrs Coore-Farr says the issue remains a major concern for the Association.
