Jamaican athletes Frederick Dacres and Simone Facey both had to settle for second place finishes yesterday at the fifth stop on the IAAF Diamond League calendar …the Oslo Bislett G4ames in Norway.
Dacres was second in the men’s discus event. He achieved his best ever placing at a senior global competition with his throw of 67.10metres on his third attempt.
The event was won by Sweden’s Daniel Stahl with a throw of 68.06metres, while Belgium’s Philip Milanov took third with a season best effort of 66.39meters.
Facey was a runner-up in the women’s 200metres in a season best time of 22.77 seconds and was awarded second following the disqualification of Netherlands’ Dafne Schippers, who had crossed the line first in 22.31seconds.
Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast was moved up to first with her season best time of 22.74 seconds with German’s Gina Luckenkemper third in a season equaling 23.04 seconds.
