Police Advisory: careful where you buy meat

by March 20th, 2017

The Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit of the JCF is advising members of the public to be careful where they purchase meat. This is as a result of  the theft of medicated animals which are later slaughtered and sold for meat in Westmoreland.

On Monday March 20 about 9:00 a.m., the Westmoreland Agro Enforcement Team went in search of animals in the Hatfield district of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland where fourteen stolen goats were recovered and the carcasses of four seized. Three persons were subsequently arrested. Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The Police are asking persons who may have had their goats stolen to contact the Savanna-la-Mar CIB at 955-2758, the Praedial larceny Unit at Police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest Police Station.
