Windies 13 man squad named for 1st test against Australia
Guyanese all-rounder Narsingh Deonarine has been recalled while Barbados captain Kirk Edwards will be vice-captain of the West Indies team named to face Australia in the home test series starting on Saturday.
Trinidadian fast bowler Ravi Rampaul who missed the T20I and ODI because of injury is also in the 13.
The 28 year old Deonarine last played for the West Indies two years ago against South Africa and has been the leading batsman in this year’s WICB Regional Four Day tournament with 582 runs in seven matches at an average of 44.76.
He has also bowled well with 20 wickets at 16.9 each, with best figures of 7 for 26 against Barbados.
The 13 for the first test are captain Darren Sammy, vice-captain Kirk Edwards, Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh, Devendra Bishoo, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Dhivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Fidel Edwards, Kieran Powell, Ravi Rampaul
and Kemar Roach
The first test will be played at the Kensington oval in Barbados.
