WICB Board of Directors approve increase in retainer contracts

The Board of Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board has approved an increase in the number of annual retainer contracts   to be offered  to male players for the 2012-2013 season.

This  coming  out  of  the  Board  of  Directors  meeting  in  Barbados  last  weekend, where  it  was  approved  that   the  number  will  be  increased  from  15  to  20  players. The  list  of  players  was also approved and  will  be  announced  at  a  later  date once  the  players  have been advised.

The recommendation of the West Indies Cricket Committee to retain the Selection Panel was also approved.

This will see Chairman Clyde Butts, Robert Haynes and Courtney Browne serving for another two year term – October 2012 to September 2014. Stuart Williams and Lockhart Sebastien will serve as alternates for the same period.

The Board has also approved the recommendations of the WICB International Fixtures Committee for the host venues of Caribbean twenty20 2013, and also approved the recommendation for the formation of a Public Relations and Communications Committee.

in the meantime Jamaican umpire Norman Malcolm is among the six  umpires and match referees whose recommendation have been   approved by the Board to retain their positions on the WICB Senior Umpire’s Panel. The others are Lennox Abraham, Gregory Braithwaite, Nigel Duguid, Peter Nero and Joel Wilson.

The Panel will serve for two years.
