Jamaica Open World Cup campaign with win over Guatemala at The Office
Jamaica's Reggae Boys last night kick-start the 2014 Road to Rio campaign with a solid 2-1 triumph over Guatemala in front of a good crowd at the National Stadium.
This in their opening match in the CONCACAF semi-final round of the World Cup qualifying competition
The victory pushes Jamaica to joint top of the Group A table with the United States who ran out 3-1 winners over Antigua and Barbuda.
Demar Phillips in the 41st and Ryan Johnson in 46th were on target for Jamaica, while Dwight Pezzarosi got a late consolation goal for Guatemala in stoppage time.
In other CONCACAF qualifiers, Panama turned back Honduras 2-0, Mexico beat Guyana 3-1, Costa Rica and El Salvador played to a 2-2 draw and Canada clipped Cuba 1-0.
The Jamaican team meanwhile is scheduled to leave the island on Saturday for Antigua where they will face the home team at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Tuesday.
