Jamaica hammer St. Lucia to open WICB Women's T20
Tournament hosts Jamaica have gotten off to a winning start at the inaugural WICB Women’s Twenty20 Competition.
This after registering a comfortable 64 run win over St. Lucia in their first round match at Kensington.
The Jamaicans after winning the toss and electing to bat made 136 for 5.
Shanel Daley led the way with 34 while skipper Stafanie Taylor supported with 33.
The St. Lucians in reply were restricted to 72 for 9.
Taylor and Roshanna Outar were the pick of the Jamaican bowlers with 3 wickets each while Vanessa Watts supported with 2 for 9.
The Jamaicans will next be in action against Barbados tomorrow also at Kensington.
Earlier at Kensington, Trinidad and Tobago -- 153 for 3 -- beat St. Vincent and the Grenadines -- 65 for 4 -- by 93 runs.
The Bajans in the meantime opened their tournament by strolling to a 9-wicket win over Dominica at Chedwin Park.
Final scores in that match, Dominica 40 all out, Barbados 41 for one.
In the day’s other match, Guyana, 119 for 6, beat Grenada who were dismissed for 50, by 69 runs.
The Guyanese will next be in action against Trinidad in the second match of the Kensington double header, while Dominica and St. Lucia will meet at Chedwin Park.
