The number of West Indians that will be plying their trade this summer in the Big Bash Twenty20 tournament in Australia has increased to four.

This following the announcement that hard-hitting Jamaican opener Chris Gayle has signed a contract to re-join the Sydney Thunder.

Gayle starred with the bat for the Thunder last season, scoring 252 runs at an average of 42 while also hitting a tournament high 22 sixes.

Playing alongside Gayle will be Pakistan leg spinning all-rounder Shahid Afridi who joined the thunder after representing the Melbourne Renegades last season where he took a team high 10 wickets to finish among the tournament leaders.

Gayle in the meantime now becomes the 4th West Indian after Sunil Narine, Kemar Roach and Kieron Pollard to sign contracts in the Big Bash this season.

Narine will be playing for the Sydney Sixers, Roach the Brisbane Heat, while Pollard will turn out for the Adelaide Strikers.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
