Discarded West Indies skipper Chris Gayle was at his marvellous best clobbering the Windward Islands bowlers en-route to a century as Jamaica claimed first innings points on the second day of their opening round Regional Four Day clash against the Windward Islands at Sabina Park.

Gayle who fell cheaply for two in the first innings ripped apart the bowling on his way to a whirlwind knock of 165 to guide Jamaica to a solid position of 262 for 7 at the close of play, an overall lead of 283.

Gayle’s knock included 14 massive sixes and 8 fours, while facing 155 balls.

While the hard-hitting left hander was on fire at one end, Simon Jackson went for 9, Donavan Pagon 2, Brendon Nash 14, captain Tamar Lambert 15, David Bernard jr 2, Carlton Baugh jr 14 while Andre Russell was not out on 23.

Earlier Andrew Richardson claimed 5 for 36, David Bernard 2 for 38 and Odean  Brown 2 for 19 to bowl the Windwards out for 159 after they resumed this morning on 49 for 3 and had slumped to 56 for 6, Nelon Pascal was the leading scorer with 28.

Over in Dominica, Guyana secured first innings points over the Leeward Islands, but have slumped to 86 for 6 at the close of play for a lead of 196.

The Guyanese after starting the day on 162 for 4 were bowled out for 208 as Gavin Tonge captured 5 wickets.

The Leewards in their reply were bundled out for 98 with Davendra Bishoo bagging 3 for 39 and Veersammy Permaul picking up 3 for 19 to give Guyana a first innings lead of 110 runs.

In Guyana’s second innings, Christopher Barnwell got 24, Sewnarine Chattergoon got 12, Royston Crandon 18 and Assad Fuddadin 15 not out.
