Deonarine ton guides WICB President's XI to 150 run lead at stumps vs New Zealand

The WICB President’s XI led by a Narsingh Deonarine century dominated the action for the second consecutive day to hold a lead of 150 runs at stumps on the rain affected penultimate day of the three day tour game against New Zealand in Antigua.

The President’s XI chasing a target of 150 to secure first innings reached 299 for 7 before the bails were removed.

This thanks to a stunning 106 by Deonarine.

The Guyanese who was making his 8th first class century, also shared in a 5th wicket stand of 131 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul who made 51.

Assad Fudadin (38) and Devon Thomas (32) also contributed with the bat.

Veersammy Permaul - 11 and Shane Shillingford - 6 are the not out batsmen.

Daniel Vettori led the New Zealand bowling with 4 for 38, while Neil Wagner supported with 2 for 50.

Earlier the Black Caps after resuming on their overnight 138 for 8 were eventually dismissed for 149.

Kemar Roach finished with 4 for 34, while Veersammy Permaul nabbed 3 for 34.

There was one each for Fudadin and Deonarine.

Scores in the match so far, New Zealand 149, WICB President’s XI 299 for 7.
