Champs Jamaica secure 1st innings over Guyana in Regional u19 Championship
Jamaica’s youth cricketers are staring a deficit of 70 runs entering Friday’s third and final day of the rain affected second round clash against Guyana in the regional WICB Under 19 Championship in Barbados.
This as the guyanese batting in their second innings closed the day on 73 for 3.
Brian Sattaur is the leading Guyanese batsman so far with 32, while there was one wicket each for Brian Gayle and Oshane Walters.
Earlier the Jamaicans resuming on their overnight 41 without loss were dismissed for 167…..a narrow lead of just 3 runs.
Skipper Walters led the way with 59 while Gayle made 42, and Aldaine Thomas hit 32 not out against Shawn Pereira who took 4 for 67.
Scores in the match so far, Guyana 164 and 73 for 3, Jamaica 167 all out.
At Bayfield, Barbados in their second innings made 285 for 5 declared thanks to an unbeaten 141 by Shai Hope.
The Leeward Islands batting a second time were 59 for 3.
Scores so far, the Leewards 163 all out and 59 for 3, Barbados 285 for 4.
Over at Pine Basin, the Windward Islands batting in their second innings were in trouble at 100 for 8 at stumps.
Scores in that match the Windwards 183 and 100 for 8, Trinidad and Tobago 122.
