JFF announces new security initiatives ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Mexico

The  Jamaica  Football  Federation  has  outlined a  whole series  of  new  measures aimed  at enhancing  the  wellbeing of patrons who will be in  attendance at  the  upcoming  World Cup qualifiers at the National Stadium in Kingston.

The  new  measures  include  increase  security  features  on  the  tickets  and  appropriate   systems  at  the  gates.

Guyanese drivers arrive in Jamaica ahead of Caribbean Invasion at Dover

A four member Guyanese team led by Kevin Jeffrey arrived in the island earlier today ahead of the first leg of the Rubis Energy/Seaboard Marine Caribbean Invasion on Saturday and Sunday at the Dover Raceway in St. Ann.

The event is also the second race meet of the 2013 local season, and will be divided into two sections - the local section and the Caribean Motor Racing Championship.

Digicel no longer sponsors of West Indies cricket?

Telecommunication giants Digicel are no longer the title sponsors of West Indies cricket.

They will however be the team sponsor following the signing of a new agreement shortly.

The US$20 million dollar agreement between the West Indies Cricket Board and Digicel expired last September and the parties have been in negotiation to complete a new deal since October 2010.

Dwight Thomas secures second place finish in Beijing

Former national record holder Dwight Thomas was the best placed Jamaican finisher at the IAAF World Challenge meet in Beijing, China.

Thomas clocked 13.44 seconds for the runner up spot in the 110 meter hurdles behind David Oliver of the United States who won in 13.16 seconds

Reggae Boyz gear up for friendly against Gareth Bale led Tottenham

Jamaica's  national  senior  footballers are now in the Bahamas ahead of a 12-day training camp and two friendly games before returning home on June 2, ahead  of  three  crucial  World Cup qualifiers in the  CONCACAF Hexagonal.

The team’s first order of business will be Thursday's friendly against English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs which is expected to see the German born first timer Daniel Gordon making his debut as a Reggae Boy.

'Real' End: Mourinho parts ways with Madrid

Jose Mourinho will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after coming to a mutual agreement with the Spanish club three years before the end of his contract, according to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Perez had hoped Mourinho would help the club win the 10th European crown that has eluded them since 2002 and end the dominant run of arch-rivals Barcelona.

However after three seasons, Mourinho's haul of major trophies is just a single Spanish league title to go along with one Copa Del Rey crown.

Bolton in talks with Leicester City striker Jermaine Beckford

Jamaican international Jermaine Beckford is reportedly being valued at £1 000.000 million pounds after Leicester City told Bolton Wanderers they would have to come up with that fee if they want to bring him to the Reebok Stadium.

The fee is just 40% of what Leicester paid when signing Beckford from Everton at the start of the 2011/12 season.

Beckford is only two years through a four year contract with Leicester but over the course of the 2012/13 campaign, he was largely left out of the squad.

John Campbell lone Jamaica selected for Sagicor HPC Program

Jamaica and West Indies under 19 batsman John Campbell is the lone Jamaican selected for the West Indies Sagicor High Performance Center for the 2013/14 program.

The former Tacky High standout joins thirteen other players from around the region including side-lined West Indies batsmen Adrian Barath of Trinidad and Kraig Braithwaite of Barbados.

Barath is among three Trinidadians in the squad including Steven Kataroo and Akeal Hosein.

300 International journalists to watch Reggae Boys take on Mexico & USA

Some three hundred international journalists have so far applied for accreditation for the Reggae Boyz back to back World Cup qualifiers at the National Stadium in Kingston on June 4 and 7dubbed Showdown in Jamdown by the Jamaica Football Federation.

The two games in three days marks the first time that Jamaica will be facing two CONCACAF giants (Mexico & United States) in one week.

Chanderpaul joins elite 300 group

West Indies middle order stalwart Shivnarine Chanderpaul has joined an elite list of cricketers to have played 300 first-class matches.

The 38 year old achieved the feat while playing in an English County game for Derbyshire against Sussex.

The Guyanese left-hander has now scored 22139 first class runs and has a high-score of 303. He also has notched 66 centuries and 110 half centuries.

The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
