Morgan Heritage Returns With New Album

After a 5 year break, Morgan Heritage is gearing up for a summer release of their long awaited album.

Gramps Morgan of the legendary family band tells Music News that the album titled Here Come The Kings is the group’s final album for VP Records. The 12 track album features a single collab with Shaggy.

Morgan Heritage is a reggae band formed by five children of reggae singer Denroy Morgan.

Dr. Olive Lewin Dead At 85

Jamaica has lost another folk icon.

Famed Jamaican musicologist and folklorist Dr. Olive Lewin who was ailing for a while, died on Wednesday evening at the University Hospital of the West Indies.

Over a storied career, Lewin was involved in researching, arranging and directing Jamaican traditional music for schools, church and theatre performances by the Jamaican Folk Singers and other groups.

Dr. Lewin's research is captured in her several books, among them Rock it Come Over - The Folk Music of Jamaica and Some Jamaican Folk Songs.

Garnet Silk's Remains NOT Stolen

The Garnet Silk Foundation is refuting claims that the late singer’s remains were stolen.

Fabian Smith the second child for Garnet tells Music News that his father’s remains are safe and with his children.

Did Busy Signal Cut His European Tour?

Busy Signal, who is supposed to be on an extended tour of Europe, parts of Africa and the Middle East is back on the island.

It is not clear as to whom or what prompted Busy’s return to Jamaica. Efforts by Music News to get a comment from Busy proved futile.

Busy Signal’s tour is expected to end in November.

Veteran Producer Harry J Dead

Members of the entertainment fraternity are paying tribute to Harry Johnson one of reggae's top producers in the 1970s.

Johnson who had battled diabetes for many years reportedly died on Wednesday at the Savanna-La-Mar Hospital in his native Westmoreland.

Popularly known as Harry J, Johnson had several big hits in the late 1960s and early 1970s, notably ‘Liquidator’ by the Harry J All Stars and ‘Young, Gifted and Black’ done by Bob Andy and Marcia Griffiths.

Veteran Radio Broadcaster, Bob Clarke says Harry J made a good contribution to the music.
